5 Tips to Get Google Reviews
Before we start this post, we are going to assume a couple of things.
- You already have a Google My Business Account verified and running
- You have a website and business email account.
So, have you got those? Great, let’s crack on.
Why should I be concerned about Google reviews.
You may be asking yourself this, and it is a fair question, so if I asked you what the first thing that you do before you buy something from Amazon, what would be the answer?
Positive reviews on Amazon affect people’s purchasing decisions and this information can be applied to when people make a decision to call your business. If you have positive reviews in Google, people are more likely to contact you.
So there is your first big reason to get reviews, the second reason is that Google like businesses that have reviews. Podium have written a great article giving five advantages to Google reviews, and each one of them is spot on!
So without further ado let’s dig in.
1. Create your Google My Business URL
I don’t want this to sound complicated because it isn’t. All we are going to do is create an address using Google My Business so that we can set up your individual g.page address.
We have created this little animation to show you where the option is to create your unique url.
When you log into your Google My Business account you need to go to the info section where you will find the @username section. Here is where you create your username and this is your personalised Google user URL.
This is what you are going to use to get more reviews.
2. Create a Google My Business Review button
Here we have two Google My Business images that can be used as buttons on your website. If you take a look at the footer of our website you will see how we are using ours, and when you click on it, it will load up the Google My Business Reviews box for your account.
And it is easy to do! We will show you how to use it in your website.
First, you can use one of these images to create your button. Just right click with your mouse and save it so you can use it later.
So when you add this image to your website, you can do it a couple of ways.
To put an image in using HTML it would look like this

You can use this in the text editor of WordPress, and we have put the location of the image from our website. The only thing that you have to change is YOURUSERNAME. You might also notice that we have added a “/review” at the end? This takes the visitor directly to the reviews section of Google My Business.

3 Add a Google My Business Review Logo in Email Footer.
Every business uses email. But not every business has an email business signature at the bottom of their email messages. This is a great way of making your email look professional, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to make sure your customers have access to all of your contact details, such as address, phone numbers, social media accounts and an opportunity to put your Google My Business review button as well!
If you don’t have an email signature, you can get an email signature generator from hubspot, and there are many others too, so have a look to see what fits your business.
The one that we found the easiest, and free, was this one
It’s easy to create, all you have to do is to put your data into the appropriate section and choose a style that you like and use the Google My Business of your choice with a link to your url for the google review.
We used it for ours and this is what it looks like.
4 Add your Review address on Business Stationary
Have you got business cards? Do you send letters? Do you post out invoices? Do you write receipts?
If you said yes to any of those questions, then you have the perfect opportunity to put your url review on the document.
When you order your new business cards, this is an ideal opportunity to have your google my business review url on. It’s an easy one and can be made so that it is not so intrusive, or as in your face as you want. You could, if you really want to, order two different sets and see which design is more successful in getting reviews.

5 The easiest one. Ask for a review in person.
Once you have all of these 4 steps done, you are making it really easy for your customers to give you that review, so just ask them!
The reason why this is the last thing that we recommend is that imagine if you have done some stirling work for your customer, you then ask for a review and they are happy to do it, you don’t want to be spending five minutes messing around looking how to get a review on your Google My Business account. You will look like a tool.
Wrapping it up
Little things over a long time make a big difference in the long term. Setting these 5 steps in motion is going to make it easy for you to get reviews and get you in front of customers who are looking for your services.
